Updated: Thu 3rd Feb, 2011 |
Nestoil PLC is proud to announce the successful completion of several key milestones in its NCTL project for SPDC. Part of the scope of work of the NCTL Project are Lay and Weld of the pipeline and Pulling of the major River crossings. These two activities are key milestones in the execution of the project.
Lay and weld of the Pipeline is in two segments; there is the 3.5km x 12” segment and the 44km x 24” main pipeline segment. By design, the 44km x 24” main Pipeline segment was made up of 35 strings (i.e. strings 1-35) of various lengths, which were welded and pushed from a well equipped Lay Barge with a dedicated and skilled crew. Lay and weld of the 24” main pipeline segment was safely and successfully achieved as per required quality standard on April 23, 2010, with the completion of welding of string 32; with a length of about 1,450m (1.45km).
The 44km x 24” main Pipeline segment traverses six (6) major Rivers and about 44 other minor Rivers and Creeks. The 6 major Rivers are: St Nicholas, Odeama, Twoni, Tora, Santa Barbara and Sego, and range from a width of about 220m (shortest) to about 1,010m (longest). The pulling of all six (6) major Rivers was executed with a well equipped pulling Barge manned by an experienced team, and was safely and successfully completed on June 01, 2010 with the successful pulling of the longest River i.e. Sego River with a width of about 1,010m.
With this achievement, Nestoil has once again proven that it is an Oil Service Company of international class and is therefore well positioned to make an indelible mark on the Oil and Gas industry in Nigeria.
